Everybody frets about spiralling NHS health costs. One thing that strikes me is the increase in A & E visits in the face on an ever risk-averse society where many stupid as well as sensible rules have us wrapped in cotton wool. Look around and there are ambulances rushing around all over the place on “blues and twos”– wasn’t like this 20 years ago. Is it because we’re a nation of wimps who can’t look after ourselves when we have a minor injury so instead we reach for the mobile and dial 999 . Or is it because we like to sue somebody even if the injury is our own fault but there is an insurance company to claim from? Ideas on a postcard please.
