"Please give (tax) generously!": The revenue investigated a registered charity and came to the conclusion that deed of covenant claims had not been correct. The Revenue went back a number of years, and assessed the charity for £150,000. The charity approached us and asked us to negotiate on their behalf. This we did, and as a result the final bill was brought down to £50,000.
Nipped in the bud: The Revenue investigated a computer consultancy operating through a limited company and attempted to apply the IR 35 rules. The accountant asked us to draft a reply to the Revenue, which we did. The Revenue accepted our explanation without further questions.
50% Off: The Revenue investigated a media business operating through a limited company, claiming a large amount of tax due to an alleged overdrawn directors loan account. The accountant didn't feel confident in the matter so came to us. We negotiated on their behalf, and by the time we were finished the tax had been halved.
